Unboxing, Walkthrough and Initial Thoughts on the PlayStation Portal

As a regular user of PlayStation Remote Play, the Portal instantly made sense to me. A dedicated device that allows me to keep my phone free and I don’t have to carry a bulky laptop + PS5 controller, that’s win. I preordered one the moment preorders were available and got my hands on my device earlier today.

I love the PlayStation Portal:

1. It’s light
2. The screen is great
3. The device is intuitive
4. I can stream and play

Sure, there are things that Sony can improve on, such as:

1. Open the Bluetooth protocol for earphones (my current plan is to use my Bose QC20 wired noise cancelling headphones)
2. Sony should add the ability to play any PlayStation Cloud game

– smooth gameplay at least on home WiFi
– can watch Netflix if you enable HDCP on the PS5
