I’ve done an article on Microsoft Labs’ research project – Pivot. Pivot essentially is a browser that categorizes and filters information based on specified criteria. The interesting feature about Pivot is that anyone can create their own collections. We’ve seen the guys at LiveSide come up with a Pivot of the Microsoft execs, now here’s one that users will enjoy going through – Facebook Friends Pivot. The Facebook Friends Pivto allows to go through your friend list in a way that you’ve every once in a while wanted to.
Created by Matt Van Horn, who was kind enough to share an early prototype with me and was willing to make a collection of my friends to try out the Pivot. The collection has friends classified based on their profile info such as:
-
Gender
-
Political Views
-
Activities
-
Music/Movies/TV Shows etc.
So here’s a quick look of my friends in Pivot:
Here’s a quick demo video of the Facebook Friends Pivot:
I’m enjoying going through my friend list in Pivot to be honest. This is making excellent use of the profile information. Will let you know when Matt comes out with a public release of this Pivot. I have asked Matt to try and incorporate Facebook Groups as well.
