
Maybe I’m reading too much into the image but the Windows 8 lock screen has an icon that looks like a PC video chat camera and shows a notification 7, which I think means, 7 missed video calls. There’s another icon for email and messaging which leads me to believe that the icon means one of three things:
- Windows Live Messenger will show you a separate notification if you miss a call
- Skype’s already being integrated into Windows 8
- Something different, like Lync integration
Whatever the case, the icon sure makes me curious.
Update: A dll file found in Windows 8 confirms an integrated video communication feature.

The icon is shaped like a person’s head, and we know that Windows 8 will be pretty Live ID-centric. For me, a pretty logical conclusion is that the icon is social updates in general.
