[Closed] Giveaway: Office 2007 Home & Student With Free Upgrade To Office 2010

Office 2010 logoAfter a no-event for Windows 7 launch, Microsoft India has been quite active on social media for Office 2010’s launch. Microsoft India has been quite generous and will be giving way two Office 2007 licenses via me (India only)

Giveaway Details:

What: Two licenses of Office 2007 Home and Student that can be upgraded to Office 2010 for free.

Why Office 2007: because Office 2010 isn’t available to general public till next month.

Where: One license via this blog and one via my podcast – Microsoft Talk.

I’ve done quite a few posts on the new features in Office 2010:

As part of the launch, there will be a virtual launch on the 25th and 26th of May. The sessions will be hosted by fellow MVPs and I will be doing one too, you can register for them at meraoffice.com.

The virtual launch will be followed by Community Launch Events. The details are available on office.merawindows.com

UPDATE: Winner for one license was decided and contacted via email. The second winner (for Microsoft Talk) is yet to be announced.

UPDATE #2: Since people don’t trust me and want to know whether I indeed did give away the license. Here are the names of the winners:

First, PowerPoint 2010’s GPU-accelerated animations take PowerPoint to a whole new level (and make me quit envying Keynote :) ). Then, OneNote and Outlook 2010 definitely benefit from the ribbon, and it’s nice to see Office looking really homogeneous this time around. And it’s fast … I think faster than 2007, but that’s totally unscientific!

    And just as with Office 2007, the Home and Student licensing that lets you put it on 3 computers in the same household is the best thing that ever happened to Office. Seriously!

Outlook has this cool feature called Quick Steps that helps repetitive tasks. And Word finally supports OpenType ligatures!!!

    Well the feature that impresses me most is that one can now seamlessly collaborate on a project with one’s coworkers using webapps over SkyDrive or Facebook.Besides,the “paste preview tool”,which lets one assess how a copied content would look like while keeping the source formatting intact or stripped or merged without actually pasting it!!,is also very enticing.The more widespread usage of the ribbon interface now across all components of the office is also a welcome move.

    regarding my face to face with MSO:
    The most important feature is ” the screen shots” in insert bar option in MSO,PPT,EXCEL which we can directly SNIP, insert and modify(cut and paste) any thing FROM WEB PAGE or desktop,whichever is in background.. the web pages importance is too good,.. and after that use of ” picture tool” ,will come in which we can change brightness and pic style will also change”
    this can help in taking “reference,quotes and pic of important things directly” coz, before it we have to save pic,then cut, and then adjust,, this reduces the effort and is pretty fast,,
    you can preview how effects will change your image over each effect this is beauty of MS 2010 and this is just one of the master piece of 2010…

      This giveaway was planned by Microsoft India and was carried out on 9 other blogs run by Microsoft MVPs. 10 MVPs were allotted 2 Office licenses each to give through their respective websites. The winner did not choose to thank me here, I don’t care. There was a deadline set by Microsoft but they extended it for me since I was giving away one of the licenses via my podcast too. Besides, my blog, my rules.
