From Patent To Product: 22 Months

May 11, 2012

Back in 2010 I wrote about a gaming patent Microsoft applied for. It was obvious that the patent detailed how Microsoft envisioned Xbox 360 and Kinect working together as a health-focused gaming device. The patent described a system where a user’s health records would be saved and then the gaming experience will be tailored for the user according to his health stats. If you’re fat, I guess the game would suggest exercises for that particular body segment.

As it turns out, Microsoft is expected to announce this at E3. Tom Warren for The Verge says a heart rate monitor that will work with most games will be introduced. The wireless device and feature will be known as Kinect Play Fit.
